Part of a LA County wide team providing coordinated efforts in ensuring that children in need of mental health services are linked timely to the appropriate level of care.   

Children’s Services Administrator I,DCFS Community Based Support Division, June 2009 - February 2017 

County Contract Monitor overseeing Family Preservation Services (FP) contracted agencies providing services to DCFS clients.  Provide technical assistance with contract compliance, review agencies’documentations for quality assurance and process agencies’billing and budgets.  Work in a team to develop review tools and procedures to enhance the quality and efficiency of duties.  Provide trainings and represent the FP program in internal and external meetings.   

Special Projects 

   Family Assessment Form (FAF): Project lead to enhance and implement the FAF program for the utilization of documentation and thorough assessment to Family Preservation agencies.  Coordinate and lead meetings between FP programs, Bureau of Information Services and Children’s Bureau.  Organize and manage trainings.  Establish goals and milestones for project completion.  Create FAF User Manual for FP agencies and internal staff.  Work collaboratively with the Department of Mental Health and Department of Probation.  Consider the impact to the DCFS regional staff and provide updates to the regional offices.  Provide trainings to DCFS contractors. 

   Request for Proposal process: Editing and writing the Family Preservation Statement of Work. Assist in developing the RFP evaluation tool. 

   Budget: Developed budget proposals, financial reports and expenditures reports.  Assisted in submitting FP budget proposal. Trained incoming staff to develop expenditure reports and understand the budget process. 

   Field Instructor: Supervise MSW interns in their MACRO placement year.  Assist student in conceptualizing how clinical practice may relate to the administrative position.   

Children’s Social Worker II-III, DCFS South County Regional Office, June 2002 - June 2009  

  

Family Maintenance/Family Reunification Case Manager: Managed a caseload of approximately 30 families to assist in children reunifying with their parent(s) through resource management and overseeing provision of services. 

  

Emergency Response Unit: Investigate allegations of child abuse and neglect.  Lead social worker for the unit for the last two years.  Preceptor for students/interns from CSULB for three years.  



 

Special Projects: 

  

   Group Therapist, Child Sexual Abuse Program: Co-facilitated groups for DCFS children who have been victims of sexual abuse. 

  

   Unit Lead: Assisted the Supervisor Social Worker in assigning and reviewing cases.  Assisted coworkers in adhering to policy and keeping to their work deadlines. 

  

House Manager, Mary’s Shelter, Santa Ana, June 1997 - August 2000 

  

Supervised up to 6 pregnant teens while they participated in programming to assist them in their pregnancy/parenting skills development.  Monitor teenagers in their daily activities to ensure safety and compliance to program rules.  Facilitated staff meetings and assisted with program development. 

  

Behavior Therapist, Private Family, 1997-1998 

  

Assisted a family in caring for a 10 year old child with autism.  Also provided behavior therapy for one hour, once a week.
